Sharing: How Access to Resources Empowers @ the Hopewell Library
-- Beginning Wednesday, April 1, 2009, the Appomattox Regional Library System,
through a partnership with Virginia Workforce Centers, is providing a SHARE Network Access Point,
where volunteers will help patrons access online resources for job seekers.
Every Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., volunteers will be available in the
computer lab at the Hopewell library to assist patrons in learning the basics of navigating the
VaWorkConnect.com or vawc.virginia.gov website. This website is a great tool for employers as
well as job seekers.
In addition to helping patrons who may be unfamiliar with using computers for job research,
the Hopewell library will be offering a variety of workshops geared towards effective job
searches. The first of these workshops will be on April 21, 2009, at 7 p.m. and will focus
on the steps of creating and polishing a resume. The workshop will be led by Emily West,
Disability Program Navigator, for the Department of Rehabilitative Services.
For additional information and continued updates regarding future workshops, contact Chris Wiegard by phone 804-861-0322 ext. 1007
Welcome to ARLS.ORG
Welcome to the Appomattox Regional Library System webpage. If you have been here before, you will have noticed a change.
The overall design has changed drastically, but the core function remains the same. Also, as an added bonus, you can now search our
catalog right from our homepage. Even though we've done so much work thus far, there's still a lot more to do. All areas of the new site
are fuctional, but some are not fully complete, so check back often and see what we've done!
We hope you enjoy the new site.
*Note - The new site is designed for Mozilla Firefox or IE7+. If you are using Internet Explorer 6 or older, some things will not work properly.
Employment Resources
Looking for a career? If you've been laid-off or if you're looking for something more secure, please check out the
resources that we've put together here at the library.
Here you will find national job search sites, resume building information and local job openings.
