In celebration of National Poetry Month, Appomattox Regional Library System welcomes the talented writer-performers of SlamRichmond for ARLS’s first-ever Poetry Slam. This event will be held at the Hopewell Library on April 14 at 7 p.m.
Poetry slam is the competitive art of performance poetry, and has its roots in the rhythm and heart-felt lyrics of hip-hop. SlamRichmond is Virginia’s longest-running and best ranked slam program. Its mission is to elevate minds and encourage better writing by pushing the envelope so that risks are taken on the page and on the mic.
