Game Day

On the first Saturday of each month, Appomattox Regional Library System hosts Game Day at the Hopewell Library from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. This event is intended for children, teens and families. The library offers a variety of gaming experiences from XBox Kinect and Wii to classic board games such as Sorry!®, Clue®, and the Memory Game. Families are welcome to bring and share their favorite games while enjoying lemonade and freshly popped popcorn. Game Day is free and open to the public.

Appomattox Regional Library System joins 75% of public libraries that support gaming in the library. Since the Great Depression, libraries have been providing non-print items such as games and toys in an effort to deliver educational and entertaining experiences. Studies show that gaming improves communication, math, and reasoning skills.
