Miss Humblebee's is an early literacy program provided through the library's website for parents and their children to help prepare them for kindergarten. Though the program concentrates on language and literacy, it also provides content in math, science, social studies, music, art, inventors, and more! Children are given an assessment before beginning the program to see where they're at, and then progress through each lesson and earning coins as they complete them. Coins can later be used to "buy" items for their digital aquarium, which serves as the reward system for the program.
Kids will have fun with the sticker room, and puzzle area...and parents will love that they can revisit every song and book that's covered in the lessons, in the music and books rooms. We sense some new favorite songs and stories on the way! You can even print off lessons for use offline, while in the car, or on vacation...or anywhere else where there may be no access to internet. Kids will have so much fun at Miss Humblebee's, it won't even seem like school!
This program is designed for kids ages 3 to 6, but can also be helpful for children already in kindergarten who may be struggling a bit. Parents will receive regular progress reports by email, and can also access developmental milestone lists put together by child development specialists. They will also receive a Kindergarten Readiness Checklist which can help determine whether a child is ready to begin kindergarten.
Parents, please register your child with Miss Humblebee's with your library card and email address (this is how you'll receive progress reports). When you child signs in with their own account, you can be sure that their progress will be saved so that they can pick up where they left off every time! You can access this program from the library, at home, or anywhere else you have an internet connection. Kids can make their way through the Academy on a regular computer, or through mobile devices using your device's browser.
PLEASE NOTE: When accessing Miss Humblebee's from outside the library, you will first be taken to a page that asks you to enter a password (this is your library card barcode number). After entering your card number and clicking "Proceed" you will be taken to the Miss Humblebee's home page.
