Read-to-a-Dog: Book Buddies!

clevercanineslogoClever Canines Therapy & Obedience Club has teamed with the Appomattox Regional Library System again to enhance children’s love of reading through the use of registered therapy dogs.
Children gain confidence in reading by reading aloud to therapy dogs! Join clever canines handlers and therapy dogs for a fun way to practice reading skills! The program is for students in grades 2-4.

 

Sign up for a 15 minute reading slot on:

 

April 10                  4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

June 12                 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.

Research shows that children who are learning to read feel more relaxed and less self-conscious when reading to dogs.The Book Buddies program aims to improve reading skills, nurture a lifelong love of reading, and help children build bonds with dogs. All dog and owner teams have successfully completed training and testing, and regularly visit nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
