“Still Life” is an exhibit of oil on canvas paintings by local artist Rebecca Rose featuring animals from field and home. The subjects reflect this season of outdoor life and farmer’s markets, but curiously caught at rest. The term “still life” usually refers to images of objects that are neither living nor moving; for this exhibit it describes the quiet pause of otherwise lively creatures captured in the paintings. Rebecca Rose currently resides in Prince George on property acquired by her great grand parents in 1905, and works in Hopewell. She studied Fine Arts from Carnegie–Mellon University and completed a post-baccalaureate program at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art.
