 Training - A Cameron Foundation initiative established to provide affordable, flexible and pertinent educational sessions for nonprofit, community and faith-based organizations in the Southside area. While the program emphasis falls into the broad category of Increasing Nonprofit Capacity (INC), specific sessions relate to board development, management, program outcomes and fund development. Board members, organization staff, volunteers and individuals considering a career in the nonprofit sector all benefit from participation in this program.

Capacity Building -The Phoenix Project’s Petersburg Partnership engages institutions of higher education in economic and community development in the City of Petersburg.  The aim of the Partnership is to provide Petersburg with resources to address economic and community development challenges and partner institutions, their administrators, faculty and students, with opportunities for teaching, research and service.  To date, more than 100 projects have been completed, including:
Researching development opportunities

Creating marketing plans
Drafting reports on best practices
Ensuring legal compliance
Conducting community-based research to inform policy decisions

Petersburg nonprofit, civic and municipal organizations can submit requests for free assistance from students and faculty members from eight different colleges
and universities at the web site above.

Southside Virginia Nonprofit Resource Center     www.svnrc-online.org

Resource Assistance - Southside Virginia Nonprofit Resource Center (SVNRC) is an information clearinghouse and support center for nonprofit organizations. The Resource Center provides reference materials, professional education and technical assistance, with the goal of strengthening the capacity of local organizations to deliver needed services in the community.
References are available in the Resource Center office in the Appomattox Regional Library during library hours. Personal assistance and consultation with Resource Center Coordinator is available by appointment, Monday through Friday.
