Children’s Summer Reading Program
June 14th through August 13th
All children from birth to those entering 5th grade can register to win prizes for time spent reading!
Registration, Reading and Prizes:
Register at any ARLS library beginning June 14th
- Read for 8 hours = “Hook a Book” tote bag and a free book
- Read for 16 hours = Choose a prize
- Read for 24 hours = Choose a prize
- Read for 30 hours = Free book
- Once you complete all 30 hours turn in your reading log to be entered in the drawing for our grand prize:
a Dell Inspiron Mini Laptop!!
…And don’t forget our Runner-Up Prize:
a Four Pack of Tickets to a Flying Richmond Flying Squirrels Baseball game!!

Carnivals and Carnival Punch Cards
Join us for our program finale Carnivals! Enjoy carnival games, snacks, and prizes.

Sea Creature Art Contest
The sea creatures art contest is a way for you to express yourself this summer by helping us create art to go along with our “Hook a Book” and “Make Waves” themes. Your art will be displayed at the library at our Sea Creature Art Show at the Hopewell Library Thursday, August 12th at 7:00pm
Winners from all three age groups will receive a gift card.
Age groups:
- Pre-school-3rd Grade
- 4th Grade-8th Grade
- 9th Grade-12th Grade
Rules:
- Your art can be created in any way: drawing, painting, computer-generated, photographs, sculptures, etc.
- You can enter only one piece of art.
- Entries must be newly created original work of the entrant, must not infringe upon third-party rights, and cannot violate copy right laws or existing trademarks.
- The design cannot have unintelligible wording, nor obscene or offensive language or imagery.
- Winners will be announced and works of art will be on display at the Hopewell Library August 12th at the Sea Creature Art Show Thursday August 12th at 7:00pm

contest@arls.org by midnight July 23rd.
