Shari’s Nonprofit Pick: The Power of Many

The Power of Many: Values for Success in Business and in Life by Meg Whitman, Former President and CEO of eBay. Call No. 650.1 Whi.

Part personal memoir, part handbook for employees and their supervisors, The Power of Many will encourage you to embrace your job and your organization’s mission with common sense and integrity. Ten chapters are formed around 10 ideals, all of which Meg is known for embodying. We all can use good reminders such as “Trust that people are basically good,” “Try something. The price of inaction is high,” “Be authentic,” “Listen,” “Focus,” and “Be flexible,” among others. How inspiring and helpful it is to see a real-life example of a powerful businesswoman who lived these things out, and then wrote about them for our benefit. Check it out.

Recently at the Prince George Library Site
April 1, 2010

Last week at the construction site visitors found the parking lot in front of the courthouse impacted by construction. One small area was excavated for drainage improvements relating to the construction. Other obvious developments: there is more signage declaring the site a ”hard hat zone” and more fencing  to protect onlookers. Supplies related to the project are being deposited on site and soon there will be obvious signs of the structure.
